Project Name: Atmospheric Emissions of Toxic Trace Metals and Volatiles during Thermal Processing of Iron Ores

A suitably qualified prospective candidate with an interest in environmental science is being sought to join a dynamic team at the Graduate School of the Environment, Macquarie University, to study atmospheric emissions of toxic metals and volatiles from the minerals processing industry with the aim to strengthen their environmental performance and efficiency.

The project is funded based on a successful ARC Linkage grant and it provides an excellent opportunity for direct research involvement with one of the major minerals processing industries in Australia.The industry partner of this project is also providing scholarship topup of $5,000 above the standard scholarship rates, as well as options for industrial training during the project.

Applicants should have demonstrated research skills through either completed research Masters degree, Masters degree containing a significant research component, or a four-year undergraduate degree with first class honours, or equivalent, in the area of science, engineering, chemistry, environmental studies or related field.

The 2012 MQRES full-time stipend rate is $23,728 pa tax exempt for 3.5 years.Applicants will need to complete a candidature/scholarship application form and arrange for two academic referee reports to be submitted to the Higher Degree Research Office.
